After a long ride, especially after a very challenging day, I like to go for some cold ones to help me relax and recover. Working as a bike messenger, I ride over 100 miles a week, and some days are more challenging than others, depending on the weather. Sometimes dealing with all types of people can be a bit stressful if they are A-holes if you know what I mean, and drivers are a pain, that’s why cycling and beer go together so well. Beer is not only refreshing but also very healthy, so listen up NYC bike messengers, in this article, you will learn all about the health benefits of a cold brew, and the perfect cool beer glass.
Being A New York Bike Messenger Is A Challenge
I am sure many of you couriers/cyclists have fallen off your bikes right? It hurts haha. I fell off my bike twice recently, I was in shock, I couldn’t believe a pro like myself fell riding off the sidewalk and the following day I got hit from behind by a scooter, which of course I wasn’t surprised by that one. Anyway, I haven’t fallen off my bike in 3 years, I was very proud of that. Since I started working as a New York bike messenger I developed great balance, speed, agility, and the reflexes of a cheetah? I remember I was in a bit of a rush, both times. The company I work for gives us two hours to complete a route, and we have to be on time 98% of the time or we don’t earn our bi-weekly incentives, and just the salary alone sucks, so sometimes I do have to run lights, yell at pedestrians and knock on cars, I love it. Enjoying a cold brew is a must for me after a long day of hard work. It definitely eases sore muscles and helps me relax and reflect on my day. I thought I’d share one of my favorite documentaries, watch below, and enjoy!
Healthy Benefits Of Drinking Beer
Drinking beer offers many great benefits, I never knew that it is a great way to hydrate your body. I did know however that it helps prevent aging. Having a cold brew after a long ride will help muscles relax and recover, and aside from the many antioxidants, beer also contains vitamin b which has an impact on energy levels and brain health, it also increases metabolism; cyclists and beer belong together. So next time you decide to pick up a cold refreshing beverage, don’t be afraid to drink your favorite brew, and if you don’t drink, I am not encouraging you to do it, I guess a cold iced tea is great too! Perfect Glass For Your Favorite Brew
Sometimes I’ll drink a beer straight from the can or bottle, but I prefer to pour my magic water into a cool beer glass. There are many available on Amazon or Etsy, but I love this particular one. It’s simple, and neat, just like how I enjoy many things in life. Simple and neat, that includes women haha, I don’t like complicated. There is not much to say about the glass, only that it’s really awesome and a great item to have for any beer-loving cyclist, and bike messenger. Check out other great reviews below!
Great Beer To Compliment That Glass
I really enjoy beer tasting, it’s something I do on weekends. After a long week of hard work, I spend my weekends reflecting and learning from my experiences, and what better way to do that than by enjoying a cold beer, and laughing it all away. Beer isn’t bad if you live a healthy lifestyle and drink moderately, it can actually improve your overall health and who doesn’t enjoy a great beer after a long day. Cycling and beer are the shit, and now you can enjoy it, even more, knowing the health benefits of a cold brew. Also, that cool beer glass looks lovely. I wouldn’t pour something cheap like Coors into my glass, if I have a Coors night then I would just pour it in a plastic cup haha. Cheers dudes!
